Neuro Linguistic Programming

Neuro indicates that we process information about the world neurologically, using the five senses of sight, hearing, touch, taste and smell.

Linguistic refers to the language that we use to communicate speech and our internal thoughts.

Programming relates to the patterns that we use to organise our thoughts and behaviour.

Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) was devised in the early 1970's by Richard Bandler and John Grinder. They studied the work of extremely effective therapists and successful people in other walks of life such as sales, politics, design, art, technology, community work & business management. The discoveries that they made about how language, thought patterns and perceptions of the world are mutually inter dependent and affect behaviour, produced the valuable array of techniques known as NLP. NLP is often used in the business world but it is just as valuable in a therapeutic setting, to enhance performance, remove obstacles and eliminate unhelpful patterns of behaviour. NLP is a brief therapy, which is often successfully combined with others such as hypnotherapy. We can use NLP for a diverse range of presenting issues, including phobias, motivational work, coaching, addictive behaviour, public speaking and performance enhancement. It can be used to help you to:

  • Think more clearly and creatively
  • Understand and influence others
  • Achieve more of your true potential
  • Overcome fears and phobias
  • Feel more positive and confident
  • Change limiting beliefs
  • Acquire skills and attitudes to develop your existing abilities
  • Change unhelpful behaviour patterns
  • Communicate more effectively with others
  • Enhance relationships of any kind
  • Set and achieve goals
  • Improve sporting activities
  • Increase confidence and self-esteem
  • Help with weight reduction
  • Teach you tools to overcome habits such as smoking
