Stop Smoking

Deciding to become a smoker is not a decision that most people make logically. It is a decision taken at a subconscious level. Therefore, any decision to stop should be taken at that same level. This is why hypnosis is such a successful method of stopping smoking. Many people considering stopping smoking feel that their choices are being limited. Hypnotherapy enables people to use their imagination to create a non-smoking future. This often feels very positive and empowering. Not smoking becomes a positive and confident choice.

People who smoke regularly and die of a smoking-related disease lose, on average, sixteen years from their life expectancy compared to non-smokers. Smoking causes 84% of deaths from lung cancer and 83% of deaths from chronic obstructive lung disease, including bronchitis. Not only is your risk of dying from many cancers higher, but the likelihood that you will die from a smoking-related illness is also greater. Even if you escape life threatening diseases you will have more wrinkles, lowered immunity, bad breath, foul smelling clothes and hair. In addition there is the risk of reduced fertility, male impotence, diabetes, heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, high blood pressure and of course the exorbitant cost. It is surprising that anyone smokes.

Research into stopping smoking with hypnosis

To investigate the most effective method of stopping smoking, the University of Iowa carried out a meta-analysis, using the results of more than 600 studies, with a total of almost 72,000 people. The results included 48 studies of hypnosis covering 6000 smokers and were published in the Journal of Applied Psychology. They clearly showed that hypnosis was three times more effective than nicotine replacement therapy and that it is the most effective method of stopping smoking.
