Stress Management

Stress results from a psychological and biological reaction to an apparent threat. The threat can be real or perceived, physical or psychological. A stress response includes symptoms such as an increase in blood pressure, heart rate, energy levels and muscle strength. The body becomes ready for action as it goes into “fight or flight” mode.

Stress is a natural part of life. Without stress, you would not be motivated to eat, work or even get out of bed in the morning. It is when stress builds too high that most people start suffering from the symptoms of too much stress. If stress is not dealt with while it is at a low level, the symptoms can escalate to cause other problems such as anxiety and depression. This is where hypnotherapy for stress management becomes significant. Your sub-conscious will be taught how to deal with stressful situations in a more appropriate way. In addition you will be taught other stress relieving techniques so that you will be able to control stress induced symptoms and, arguably more importantly, how to avoid stress becoming a problem in the first place.

Everyone reacts to stress in different ways and to different degrees. Some people have more stress than others. Some people handle stressful situations better than others. Each person is affected by different stressful situations, depending on their own make-up. What may bother one person may not affect another person. This does not deny your stress, it merely points out what situations you react to in a stressful manner. I will be able to take into account your individual circumstances and to create an unique plan to suit you.

Some Symptoms of excess stress may include

  • Feeling physically tense

If you have several of the above symptoms, it is possible that you are suffering from being over stressed. Stress is one of the biggest threats to a person’s health, happiness, and well-being. Stress can cause confused thinking, depression, high blood pressure, heart problems, and a myriad of other health problems. The symptoms of stress are sometimes insidious and undetectable, until one day you might feel overwhelmed with life. Everything bothers you, from your work to your favourite pet at home. All of this results in the feeling of being out of control.

Stress is a medical condition. If you find that you are suffering from regular or chronic stress, then you are advised to see a doctor who will be able to give advice on appropriate treatments for alleviating undue stress.

Relaxation exercises, and other stress management techniques will help you not only to combat stress and cope with it, but ultimately, and far more importantly, to prevent it in the first place.

How can Isis help with the symptoms of stress?

We will incorporate a number of different therapeutic models including hypnosis and teaching self-hypnosis to enable you to manage and control stressful feelings and situations, Hypnosis will assist with unconscious learning and by teaching you relaxation techniques and exercises, it can enable you to develop natural responses such as a relaxation response as opposed to a stress response.

Hypnosis can also help with positive thinking and assertiveness. By understanding stress and your body's reaction to it, you can start to create new positive reactions which become a self-fulfilling prophesy.

Hypnotherapy is an effective treatment for stress symptoms such as insomnia, muscle tension, rushing, worrying etc. but is also an effective approach to dealing with stress and anxiety before they even happen.

We will tailor interventions to suit you and your individual situation, which may include cognitive behavioural techniques, rational emotive behavioural therapy, motivational work as well as hypnosis.

You will be given techniques to practice at home, as well as a stress relieving CD to use in order to strengthen your ability to effectively manage stress.
